Communications Manager

Sheridan Block is the Communications Manager for Refugee Congress, overseeing all online and offline communications that highlight the impact of the organization and its delegates and further the mission to bring forcibly displaced people to decision-making tables as equal partners.

Before joining Refugee Congress, she supported various nonprofits around the world with their communications, including website development, social media management, fundraising, and outreach efforts. She received her bachelor’s degree in communications and journalism from the University of Central Florida, and previously worked as an award-winning journalist for a small-town newspaper in Colorado.

As a storyteller, she has helped shape narratives that amplify the lived experiences of refugees and immigrants. While working with WeaveTales, Sheridan supported communications for the New American Speakers’ Program and helped in the development of the Refugee Storytellers Collective training materials.

On weekends, Sheridan enjoys hiking to waterfalls, trying new foods, and doing everything she can to exhaust her new puppy.
